Moving 4ward

Our "Moving 4ward" project offers a personal mentor to parents from homeless families, to help with issues that are concerning them and getting in the way of taking a next step. All support is free of charge with travel and childcare costs available where needed.

We are able to help in the way that best suits you - with matters relating to finances, career, health etc - to build a happier and more fulfilling life. Our experienced mentors will advise you, help you to draw up a personal action plan, and support you in your efforts to achieve it.

The project is based at our centre in Mitcham, and welcomes visitors, but we are also willing and able to come and meet you in surroundings in which you feel most comfortable. This could be a library or cafe close to where you live.

We can provide help and support, including some accredited training, with any of the following -

  •  Budgeting and money management
  •  Writing a CV
  •  Interview Skills
  •  Where best to look for work
  •  Deciding what work you would like to do, and how to get the best training for it
  •  Researching the benefits that may be available to you
  •  Overcoming a lack of confidence and self esteem
  •  Childcare problems
  •  Practical support with interview outfits, furniture and a free bicycle to help you get around

You are able to get help from the "Moving 4ward" project if -

  •   You are in temporary accommodation (or have been homeless or in temporary accommodation in the last year)
  •   You are a parent with dependent children
  •   You are out of work, and on income support or other benefits (not Job Seekers Allowance)
  •   You are aged 20 or over
  •   You live in the London boroughs of Sutton, Merton, Croydon or Kingston
